The advisory panel for The National Cookery School Guide has been established to ensure best practice in the selection process of schools in the guide. It was the panel’s decision, for example, to create an independent board of contributing editors whose role it is to choose the schools eligible for inclusion (see Editors). The panel also advise on the selection criteria of schools, driving-up industry standards such as sustainability (see Selection Criteria).
The advisory panel’s role will now involve working to see how The National Cookery School Guide project can help support the cookery school industry, in a whole variety of ways. For instance, prominent on its agenda for 2017 is seeing how The National Cookery School Guide can promote, support and encourage the programmes of apprenticeships, bursaries and scholarships available across the cookery school industry. In so doing, the guide hopes to assist those people wishing to get a foothold in the hospitality industry but who are finding it tough to do so.
